There is no single reliable residence card delivery time for every applicant in Poland. Assessment of the permit, correction of missing items and production of the physical card are separate stages. Special rules also affect procedural deadlines in 2026. A promise of a “card in 60 days” overlooks these distinctions.
What the 60-day rule actually covers
Article 112a of the Foreigners Act provides a 60-day decision period for temporary residence. Its starting point depends on statutory conditions, including personal attendance where required, correction of formal defects and submission of the necessary documents. Creating a draft does not start that clock.
The provision does not set a universal collection date for the plastic card. Other permits and procedural stages follow their own rules. A number quoted for one route should not be applied to every application.
Special deadline rules until 4 March 2027
Article 100d of the current text of the Act on assistance to Ukrainian citizens provides that deadlines do not start, or are suspended, until 4 March 2027 in listed proceedings conducted by voivodes. These include temporary residence, permanent residence, EU long-term resident permits and certain permit amendments. The provision refers to foreign nationals in those proceedings, not only to Ukrainian nationality.
This does not prevent the office from processing cases: actions taken remain effective. The provision also restricts remedies concerning administrative inactivity. Whether a particular court action is available requires assessment of the facts and current case law. A template complaint is not a guaranteed way to speed up a decision.
Review the timeline while you wait
Record submission, proof of filing, attendance, document requests and your responses. Mark the last confirmed action. The number of months alone does not establish whether the file is complete.
- Check your address and delivery channel, including letters to a representative.
- Verify each item requested in the latest official letter.
- Find sending and delivery receipts for additional documents.
- Review changes in employment, family circumstances or place of residence.
- Ask a specific question rather than only “when will my card arrive?”.
For Pomeranian cases, use our Gdańsk status-check guide. A friend’s processing time or an online group report does not establish the likely decision date in your case.
What a pending case does not prove
A pending application alone does not establish permission for any job or unrestricted international travel. Lawful stay following a timely application depends on the statutory conditions being met. Work entitlement and border-crossing documents need separate checks.
If your contract ends or your employer changes, review the consequences before the event. Some duties arise before you receive a physical card.
Should you file a reminder or court complaint?
First identify the applicable special rules, procedural stage and previous correspondence. Discuss the choice of a procedural remedy with an adwokat or radca prawny who can assess the file. Do not rely on promises of guaranteed acceleration through unofficial connections.
A useful next step
Pobyto offers help reviewing an existing application, correspondence and outstanding evidence. Commercial assistance fees are separate from government charges. An initial review should produce an understandable action list rather than an invented card delivery date.
